Advisory

Navigating the technology and the teams that implement it is an ongoing challenge, I can provide ongoing help as an Advisor to the company, individuals or specific projects. The value of an outside perspective from an experienced executive that has contextual understanding of the companies business and environment can be the difference between success and failure in complex initiatives.

Project Initiation

I have started many projects, as the initiator building them into successful organizations. Many projects are started based upon an opportunity assessment not a specific business scope. Today the business opportunity needs to be developed in tandem with the execution capability to capture the opportunity. This requires a unique cross section of business, technology and process skills, to ensure that the identified opportunity can be validated and captured quickly without excessive spend and while benefiting the company irrespective of the opportunity outcome. Sounds like a big ask, I have a process and the documented development tools to take an opportunity, develop it into an organization and ultimately a business, I have undertaken a number of these projects in the past.

Implementation

Looking for a disciplined, transparent technology executive to manage an important implementation project, I may be the right fit for your project. I implement simple, transparent processes that engage team members, ensuring that decision making and project status is always clear to all stake holders. Few projects go according to plan, my process rapidly identifies issues, engages the team and partners in ensuring that issues do not result in failure. But a word of warning, I believe that project status reporting requires “brutal honesty”, “positioning” project status quickly spirals into an inefficient program at best, but often project failure.

Transformation

I do transformation differently. I focus on technology first business transformation to increasing needs of technology focused customers. Today, technology is at the center of business transformation and transformation projects require a deep understanding of the development and implementation not possessed by Consulting Companies “business school” consultants. However I do recognize that effective process is key to success, I have the skills, experience and implementation tools to implement successful transformation projects.

Remediation

Some projects just get out of control. I have helped remediate large scale complex projects to resolution. The resolution can result in the continuation of the project or termination, both can be valid outcomes based upon the circumstances. Where the scope and objectives can still be met within the funding and delivery timeline, I can help reorganize all aspects of a project. In cases where the project can not longer meet objectives, its important to understand the root cause that resulted in project failure. Assuming I am engaged prior to project termination, I can quickly identify where project scope and process failed.
